The oceans are the heart of our planet, they regulate the climate, provide food for millions of people, produce oxygen and are the habitat of a wide variety of living beings.
Today our marine ecosystems are threatened. According to the UN, we are responsible for 80% of their pollution, being the spills of hydrocarbons, chemicals and plastics the greatest threats to our ecosystem.
Currently the methods used to fight the pollution caused by oil spills are; mechanical extraction, use of chemical dispersants and beat the spots with the propellers of the boats.
None of these methods, by itself, represents a definitive solution for the environment.
